Motion Analytics vs Plausible.
Plausible is genuinely good. It is open source, independent, based in the EU, and it has done more than almost anyone to prove you can run a serious analytics product without cookies or surveillance. We built Motion Analytics in the same spirit, so a lot of it will feel familiar. Here is where the two actually differ, including where Plausible is the better pick.

Same philosophy, different engine
This is the difference that matters most. Plausible stores every single event exactly, in ClickHouse, so its counts are precise no matter how big you get. Motion Analytics runs on Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine, which samples once your traffic is large enough to warrant it.
So our numbers are exact until you are busy, and statistical estimates after that, and the dashboard tells you the moment a number is an estimate rather than a count. In exchange, we run at a fraction of the cost of operating ClickHouse, and we pass that saving straight on to the price. If exact counts at large scale are non-negotiable, that is a real point in Plausible's favour.
The price
Plausible's cheapest plan is $9 a month for 10,000 pageviews. Ours covers many times that for a comparable price, across as many sites as you like. That is not us being clever, it is the sampled-edge engine costing less to run than exact ClickHouse storage, so the price reflects it.
The honest flip side is in the row above: you are buying estimated counts at volume rather than exact ones. Which of those trades you prefer depends on whether you are reporting to a finance team or trying to understand your audience. See the full breakdown on our pricing page.
Performance grades, built in
Plausible tells you what your visitors did. We do that too, and we also grade how fast each page actually was for the people who loaded it, because the same team builds MotionScore.
Every page in your dashboard carries an S-to-F performance grade from real field data, and you can open the full audit in one click. No other privacy analytics tool does this, because no other one also happens to run an animation performance lab.
It does not stop at the dashboard either. The same lab grade runs in your pipeline through MotionScore Guard, so a pull request that slows a page down fails its check before it merges. And the whole dashboard is queryable from a REST API and an MCP server, so a coding agent can read your traffic, performance and funnels, and even create a funnel, without scraping a thing. Plausible has a stats API; it does not grade performance, gate a build or speak MCP.
What Plausible does better
Plausible is open source under AGPLv3. You can read every line, run it on your own server, and never depend on us or anyone else to keep the lights on. We are not open source and we are not self-hostable. If that matters to you, it is a genuine reason to choose Plausible, and we will not argue with it.
It also counts every hit exactly at any scale, and it has been doing this reliably since 2019 with a large community and a long track record behind it. Motion Analytics is new, launched in 2026. Maturity is earned, and Plausible has earned more of it.
If open source, self-hosting or exact counts at large scale are non-negotiable, choose Plausible and you will be in good hands. If you want the same privacy posture with much cheaper pricing and performance grades baked in, and you are comfortable on a younger product, that is us. Try the live demo on real traffic and decide.
