Why is it so much cheaper than other analytics?

Motion Analytics runs entirely on Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine, which is built for efficiency. It samples data and stores it at a resolution that adapts to the size of your traffic, which means we can offer much lower rates than competitors that maintain their own servers, storing data at wastefully high resolutions.

Additionally, Motion is already sustained by sales of Motion+. This is the analytics platform we built because we want to use it ourselves, at rates that are reasonable and far closer to cost.

What is MotionScore, and why is it in analytics?

MotionScore grades how your pages actually render: animations, layout thrashing, paint and GPU pressure, scored S to F. No other analytics tool measures it. By pairing it with your live traffic you see the animation performance of the pages people actually visit, and get an alert when a deploy makes one worse.

Do I need a cookie banner?

No. The tracker sets no cookies, uses no local storage and stores no personal data. Visitor counts come from a hash salted with a random value that is generated fresh each day and destroyed within 48 hours, so nobody can be followed across days, let alone across sites. For the paperwork, see our data-processing agreement.

What happens if I go over my monthly pageviews?

Never data loss: collection always continues, so we never drop a pageview because of billing. You will see a note in your dashboard as you approach the limit. If an account runs more than 50% past its allowance for over a week, we hold the dashboard behind an upgrade prompt until you move up a tier. Your visits keep being recorded the whole time, and upgrading restores everything instantly.
